In 2002, Microsoft released a program called .NET Framework. It is development software that application developers can use to make their Windows applications (e.g. accounting packages, database applications, graphics editors) smaller and with more features. Applications that depend on .NET Framework will not run on your computer unless .NET Framework Redistributable is on your hard disk (or network server). It is free.
